Why local chimney safety cannot wait
- NFPA 211 calls for chimneys, fireplaces, and vents to be inspected at least once a year by a qualified professional — and cleaned when needed.
- IRC Chapter 10 (Chimneys and Fireplaces) sets construction and clearance rules for chimneys, fireplaces, and vents — including liner, termination, and combustible-clearance requirements that inspections verify in the field.
- A Level 1 chimney inspection documents accessible portions of the chimney and connected appliance — the baseline most homeowners need each year.
