Why local chimney safety cannot wait
- NFPA research consistently finds heating equipment among the leading causes of U.S. home fires, with chimneys and fireplaces a recurring factor when creosote or blocked flues go unaddressed.
- IRC Chapter 10 (Chimneys and Fireplaces) sets construction and clearance rules for chimneys, fireplaces, and vents — including liner, termination, and combustible-clearance requirements that inspections verify in the field.
- A Level 1 chimney inspection documents accessible portions of the chimney and connected appliance — the baseline most homeowners need each year.
